"Interprofessional education (IPE) occurs when students from two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes." (WHO, 2010)


Students who come to Holland Bloorview have many opportunities during their clinical placement to observe and participate in a collaborative, client and family centred model of health care. In addition, students are invited to engage in formal and informal IPE sessions and activities during their clinical placement so that they can develop their collaborative competencies.

The IPE Program at Holland Bloorview, led by Darlene Hubley, IPE Leader is aligned with the University of Toronto’s IPE curriculum and supports students to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes in the areas of communication, collaboration and values and ethics.students are invited to engage in formal and informal IPE sessions and activities during their clinical placement so that they can develop their collaborative competencies.

The IPE Program also aims to develop our faculty by providing training for our educators on the subtleties of IPE facilitation. IPE facilitators at Holland Bloorview may include former clients and family members though the support of the Family Leadership Program which has formalized a role for clients and families as educators.students are invited to engage in formal and informal IPE sessions and activities during their clinical placement so that they can develop their collaborative competencies.
