Families of children with serious illness face a host of challenges on numerous fronts, challenges that immeasurably compound the difficulty of their arduous struggle of combating the disease itself. Chai Lifeline Canada addresses the full spectrum of needs, from logistical to social, recreational to psychological. Chai Lifeline Canada reaches out not only to patients, but also to parents, siblings, classmates, school faculty, and the community as well.

The CHAP Program facilitates the connection of individuals with disabilities and CHAP workers through a Family Registry and Worker Database. We also provide information on community respite services and upcoming workshops/events. CHAP workers are hired by the family and are considered self-employed.

The residential programs operated by Kerry’s Place Autism Services offer safe and practical living arrangements within various communities in Southern Ontario. Communication and life skills are taught in all settings, at school, in the work place and in social and recreational settings. Our group homes are single family dwellings which usually accommodate four residents per home. Kerry’s Place also provides supported independent living arrangements and home-share settings.

Reena Centre

Reena provides residential respite to children, youth and adults from 7 to 70 years of age. We have a new location for children which is wheelchair-accessible and inclusive with the rest of the house. In the same area we have a location for adults 18 to 35 year of age with moderate to independent needs. We also have a location that provides a high level of support to young males with challenging behaviours and we endeavour to offer respite to a variety of individuals as the need arises.

Consists of agencies funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. We are collaborating to develop a more dynamic respite network for both children and adults in Toronto.
