Barbara is the Research Ethics Board Vice-Chair, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto and a Scientist at the Bloorview Research Institute. Barbara is a physical therapist and bioethicist and received her PhD from the Institute of Medical Sciences and Collaborative program in Bioethics at the University of Toronto. She completed a post doctoral fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Program.
Lad is an Associate with the law firm Gardner Roberts LLP. The major focus of Lad’s practice is health law, where he provides advice and representation on a variety of legal matters, including regulatory issues, independent health facility regulation, hospital privileges disputes, consent and capacity issues, privacy concerns and other Ontario health legislation.
Maria is the Bioethicist and Privacy Officer at Holland Bloorview. She completed a MHSc in Bioethics and a post-graduate Clinical Ethics Fellowship at the University of Toronto. She is Course Lead for “Legal Approaches to Bioethics” in the MHSc Program in Bioethics at the Joint Centre for Bioethics, University of Toronto. Maria was a member and Vice-Chair on the Research Ethics Board of St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto from 1994 to 2003.
Peter is the Physician Director of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team at Holland Bloorview. His practice is focused entirely on acquired brain injury and adolescent rehabilitation. He holds a position as Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto.
Steve is the Research Ethics Board Chair and a scientist in the Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview. He is a rehab engineer with a MSc in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University and PhD in Health Science from Utrecht University. Steve is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy and Associate Member of the Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Toronto.
Deirdre holds a BA from the University of Manitoba and has many years of pharmaceutical industry experience. She is a community member with a great deal of personal experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury and autism.
Elyse is a partner with the law firm Rosen Sunshine LLP. The major focus of Elyse's practice is advocacy on behalf of health professionals. She represents health professionals in matters involving various administrative Tribunals, including College Complaints, Fitness to Practice and Discipline Committees and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.
Nadia holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. She has experience coordinating a variety of clinical trials examining how medications affect the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder. Nadia is the Manager of Research Ethics and Clinical Trials at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
Nicole Thomson, occupational therapist, is a Collaborative Practice Leader at Holland Bloorview. In addition to her role at Holland Bloorview, Nicole is an elected professional member of Council for the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, where her duty is to serve the general public interest. She is a doctoral candidate in the Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Science at University of Toronto. Her research is focused on improving health services for marginalized populations, specifically focused on ‘disability’ as a minority group in society.
