Student Support Services
Student Support Services provides services to clients who are actively followed at Holland Bloorview, attend school in the City of Toronto and who have physical and functional concerns at school.
Our Occupational Therapist specializing in Post Secondary Transition services may also provide support to students in York, Peel and Durham Regions. If a Holland Bloorview client is being followed by a Toronto District School Board or Community Care Access Centre therapist at school, they are not eligible for Student Support Services.
The goal of our services is to promote inclusion and participation of Holland Bloorview clients in their classroom and school environments through collaboration and consultation with students, school staff, families, Holland Bloorview staff and community partners.
Our Occupational Therapists provide assessment and consultation to enhance students’ productivity, self-care and leisure at school.
Our Physiotherapists provide assessment and consultation with respect to school accessibility, safety with mobility and gym participation.
Our Speech Language Pathologist provides assessment and treatment for students with speech difficulties in the school setting. Speech difficulties may include articulation, voice and stuttering. The Speech Language Pathologist may also provide consultation for saliva management and swallowing safety at school.
Our Occupational Therapist who specializes in Post Secondary Transition offers consultative support in gathering information and developing skills to prepare students for a successful transition from secondary school.
Referrals
A referral is required to access this service.
Referrals are accepted from health-care professionals and school staff.
Parents can request a referral by contacting their child’s clinician at Holland Bloorview or their child’s community school.
