Child Development Program: Feeding Services

The Feeding Clinic is a service designed to assess and manage the problems your child is having with feeding and swallowing. Our multidisciplinary team works with you to develop a plan to improve your child’s feeding safety and feeding skill development.

Before leaving your Feeding Clinic appointment, you will be provided with a written summary of feeding recommendations, which may include:

  • changes to types of food provided
  • change in feeding techniques
  • therapy by the Speech-Language Pathologist and/or Occupational Therapist
  • a Videoswallow X-ray
  • referral to other professionals
  • medications

Recommendations may also be made to seek help from community therapists and we will work to facilitate the process.

Populations served:
We see children up to the age of 18 with a physical or neurological origin to their feeding difficulties. Children who have been diagnosed with conditions such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, neuromuscular conditions, genetic syndromes, and cleft lip and palate have been seen in clinic. We do not serve children with feeding difficulties solely related to behaviour and nutrition. Please call the clinic if you have any questions about the appropriateness of a referral.
