Child Development Program: Clinical Seating Services

Professionals on the Clinical Seating Services team provide assessments for children and youth who require specialized seating and mobility equipment such as manual and power wheelchairs, pressure relief cushions and custom seating.

When equipment is prescribed for a client, the professional assists the client and their family to research the various funding options available to them and also assists with the completion of any necessary applications and supporting documentation.

To enable co-ordination of care for each child, the Clinical Seating Services team communicates and collaborates with other involved community partners such as community therapists, physicians, equipment vendors, other medical facilities and government agencies.

Referrals

A physician referral is required to access this service and the client must reside within the Toronto area or within an area that cannot access a local treatment centre within Ontario.
