Welcome Back Team Haiti

We are pleased to welcome Team Haiti back home to Holland Bloorview
From October 16 -26, 2010, Holland Bloorview’s team of six health care professionals were on the ground in Haiti, providing rehab services to children and adults, and transferring their knowledge to front-line staff at the St. Charles Seminary/Haiti Medical Missions of Memphis in Croix des Bouquets. The team’s days were filled with rehab clinics, teaching sessions, home visits, triage, and countless adventures from power outages to harrowing road travel that “would rival any ride at Canada’s Wonderland. Bumps, twists, abrupt stops and more bumps!”

Even with the challenges of hard daily work and constant reminders of the devastation of the earth quake, the team had a fascinating and unforgettable experience in Haiti. To view some great photos from the trip and to read first-hand accounts of the team’s journey, visit the team’s blog at http://hollandbloorviewinhaiti.blogspot.com/.

The Team expresses their thank you to all the staff, friends, family and others who supported their work with donations, time and comments on their blog. In particular, they express their thanks to the people of Haiti, who have been through more than most people can imagine. The team was touched by their warmth and spirit.

Holland Bloorview is proud to have played a meaningful role in helping Haiti to rebuild in the aftermath of last January’s earthquake. Our team worked hard to assist the Haiti Medical Missions of Memphis in developing the capacity to provide critical treatments and therapies that will allow children with disabilities, and families affected by injury in the tragedy of the earthquake, to have a better chance to participate fully in life.

Welcome back Sean, Julia, Gail, Laura, Jonathan and Sheila.
