Governor General and Lieutenant Governor to Visit Holland Bloorview on International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd)

What:  On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will visit Holland Bloorview along with Their Honours the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley. This visit is part of the Governor General’s two-day official visit to Ontario.

Their Excellencies and Their Honours will tour the state-of-the-art hospital facilities, with special visits to the Bloorview School and the Bloorview Research Institute. Within the Research Institute, they will speak with students and scientists involved in creating assistive technologies that promote inclusion for children with disabilities. At the school, located on-site, Their Excellencies and Their Honours will visit with teachers and kindergarten students who take part in a unique integrated education program, created by partnering a class of typically developing Junior and Senior Kindergarten students with a class of Junior and Senior Kindergarten students with disabilities.
