Holland Bloorview achieves the final stage in launching an electronic healthcare record

October 31, 2012 – In a move to improve client care and patient safety, all outpatient clinicians at Holland Bloorview will now be using technology to document treatments and therapy, replacing the need for handwritten files.

The launch is the final step toward bringing all client records at Holland Bloorview online.

"Health care providers across the organization will now have access to the full picture of the client's care in real-time" says Jackie Schleifer Taylor, Vice President of Programs and Services at Holland Bloorview. "This helps us to ensure everyone receives the very best care."

The move to an online healthcare record began more than three years when the information services and healthcare providers partnered to build a customized patient care system that supported both of their needs.

Health care providers in the inpatient units were the first to use the system.

"This system is all about collaboration," says Jackie. "It was born through a true partnership and for years to come it will serve as a way to connect clinicians to their colleagues ensuring that every piece of the client journey is shared."

The outpatient clinics at Holland Bloorview serve more than 58,000 client visits year.
