Sequoiah

Doing more and going further

Ten-year-old Sequoiah knows a thing or two about physical endurance. “Physiotherapy is hard work,” she says.

Sequoiah

Sequioah has cerebral palsy and has been in and out of Bloorview Kids Rehab for years.  But thanks to Bloorview’s dedicated therapists and her own stamina, Sequoiah is walking and she has decorated her leg braces with pictures of one of her favorite heroines – herself!  Her mother Kerene says she wanted to put a pictured of her favorite R & B singer, Chris Brown, on her orthotics, but settled for a picture of herself instead.

“I wouldn’t trade Bloorview for anything!” Kerene says.  That’s because Bloorview’s staff is committed to working wonders with kids like Sequoiah.  Everyday Bloorview’s therapists, clinicians, and scientists help children with physical and developmental disabilities to do more and go further than they ever thought possible. Not only do they grow physically stronger, but they also learn the social and life skills that all kids need to lead healthy, active lives.

These days Sequoia is busy being a kid. Her favorite sports are soccer and basketball and she loves to play Nintendo Wii.

“She’s a very fun-loving and caring person,” says her mom, “she wants to become a neurologist some day, so she can help everyone who has C.P.
