Bloorview—A Part of our Life

Christian

Bloorview has been a part of Christian’s life since he was three years old.  Christian was diagnosed with cerebral palsy shortly after birth.

We noted that within the first few months at Bloorview, Christian’s

speech, mobility and fine motor skills began to improve dramatically.  The therapy, care and nurturing environment offered at Bloorview and its staff helped Christian become the confident, outgoing, social and personable individual that he is today.

When Christian was born, we were aware that there was always a possibility that he would not be able to walk because of the damage to his spinal cord during birth, and that he would have other limitations, but the great strides he has made with the assistance of Bloorview has eliminated any doubt that we may have had that Christian could live a normal and fulfilling life. Christian is now in Grade 3 and loves zooming along the corridors or the playground with his walker.  He is definitely not shy, as the principal and staff at his school can attest, and he doesn’t see himself as being different from any of the other children in his class.

Christian continues to have an affinity for the arts, and dreams of working for the TTC, or working with trucks, and even becoming a doctor when he grows up.   Bloorview has given Christian the opportunity and ability to lead a normal fulfilling life, so he was quite excited to be asked to be an Ambassador for Bloorview!

Thank you Bloorview for being a part of our life.
