Another Place to Call Home

Cameron

“During the 11 weeks we spent at Bloorview, Cam and I ate, slept, and hung out each and every day” explains Cameron’s mom Corinna. “Cam went back to school there. Our inpatient experience was the most emotional and the most amazing experience we have had. The love and compassion and support that given to us was incredible.”

In 2008, nine-year-old Cameron, who was born with cerebral palsy and was referred to Bloorview at 17 months, had hip surgery and required intensive rehab therapy. As a result, Cameron was an inpatient at Bloorview for 11 weeks, and stayed at the hospital with his mother.

Over the years, Cameron has attended the Intensive Education Therapy (IET) program at the Bloorview school from nursery through grade one, and has benefitted from several programs and services at Bloorview including the Botox, seating, dental and feeding clinics. More recently, he’s been going to outpatient physiotherapy at Bloorview.

If Cameron could meet anyone famous it would be, “Chris Bosh,” says Cameron, “my favourite athlete because he is awesome!”

“Bloorview has and is our lifeline, our support, and in my mind has become a part of our extended family,” says Corrina, “Another place to call HOME!”
