Dante

Three Superheroes

Dante

Dante loves to play superhero with his two younger brothers.  Dante usually plays Batman, while Darius is Spiderman and Damon is the Incredible Hulk.

Now 5, Dante’s younger brothers are 3 and 2.  Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 6 months, Dante came to Bloorview in 2006 at age 2. Dante takes part in many programs Bloorview has to offer, but he’s especially fond of the full day JK program at Bloorview school.

“He just loves school and especially his teacher—she’s incredible, very loving and very motherly,” says Ipek, “Bloorview is just amazing!”

Despite his physical challenges, Dante is a bright, driven and motivated boy.  If he wants to do something he’ll find his own way of doing it. Dante currently crawls, climbs and uses a walker and wheelchair to assist him and is working on standing and walking independently.

In order to help their son move more freely and independently, Ipek and Osbourne have made it their personal quest to investigate all possibilities for him.  In an attempt to help Dante move beyond his disabilities, the whole family continues to explore creative methods along each step of his development and celebrate all of his accomplishments.

“When you are at your best, you motivate others around you to do the same.  Inspiration becomes infectious,” say Dante’s parents, “Dante and his brothers are very close, they do everything together and his younger brothers are extremely supportive and motivators for him.”
