Funds raised from the matching program have enable children with disabilities to access programs and services they need, obtain specialized equipment they require and the critical medical care they can’t live without.
In early 2009, Bill and Susanne Holland launched The Holland Family Matching Fund, which matched new funds raised for Bloorview Kids Foundation. They wanted to ensure that children with disabilities should not be put at risk during these difficult economic times. Their commitment to raise funds and awareness for Bloorview reflects the profound impact of Bloorview’s work on the quality of life for kids with special needs.

The Holland Family has shown exemplary leadership and community spirit in their philanthropy to Bloorview Kids Rehab. In 2005, they became the largest individual donors in Bloorview’s history when they contributed more than $5 million towards the construction of our new facility. Their commitment to kids with disabilities is unprecedented in Canada, and creates a world of possibility for children with disabilities.
Bill explained, “When my family and I toured Bloorview, I couldn’t decide which I found more compelling- the children who were dealing with disability in so many different ways or the professionals who were so dedicated in their work with them. I’ve seen many healthcare organizations up close and this is one I’m pleased to support because it works.”
As CEO of C I Financial, one of Canada’s largest mutual fund companies, Bill’s leadership and guidance are invaluable to Bloorview. In 2006, Bill joined Bloorview Kids Foundation's Board of Directors, and immediately took up the challenge of raising new funds by introducing the cause of childhood disability to business associates, friends and family members.
Bill and Susanne Holland continue to play an active leadership role at Bloorview, hosting tours, attending events and sharing their enthusiasm for Bloorview’s cause. Their outstanding philanthropy has enabled countless children with disabilities and their families to lead richer and more independent lives.
