Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation
Our Donors: Gavin - Live Strong
Gavin had never heard of Bloorview and certainly didn’t expect to be living at Bloorview for six months this year. But last July what began with a sore throat turned into a life-altering condition called Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
When 17-year-old Gavin arrived at Bloorview, he could barely move from the neck down. Now, after six months of intense physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and communications assistance, he walks with only one cane and is growing stronger every day. Thanks to our donors, Bloorview is able to develop comprehensive programs and services that improve the quality of life for young people like Gavin.
Gavin’s experience has inspired him to pursue a career in health promotion to encourage people to support places like Bloorview. Already, he’s found a way to raise money by selling Bloorview bracelets in the style of Lance Armstrong’s “Live Strong” yellow bands. If you are interested in purchasing a “From disability to
possibility” band for $5, please call 416- 425-6220 extension 6272.
