Our Donors: Richard and Marilyn Coles
Richard and Marilyn Coles, retirees living in Ontario’s Muskoka region, are long time benefactors to Bloorview Kids Rehab. During our recent capital campaign, the Coles significantly increased their support because they know the critical role Bloorview plays in the lives of thousands of children with disabilities.

"Bloorview is a place that provides help and hope for children and their families. We donate to Bloorview because of its vision and the programs and services it provides for children with disabilities and special needs. Bloorview inspires children to achieve their best and we are proud to contribute to this goal," stated Marilyn.
When asked what sparked their interested in Bloorview, “It all started in 1980 with a fifty dollar bill to sponsor a colleague who was curling at Avonlea for the Curl for Kids event in support of the old Hugh MacMillan Foundation,” said Richard.
More than 20 years later, Marilyn and Richard are still devoted donors to Bloorview and have expanded the breadth of their interests in children’s causes having recently provided financial aid to a charity in Lusaka Zambia, which paid for more than fifty corrective surgeries for children in need.

Richard and Marilyn’s gifts over the years have helped pay for many important programs and services, some of which include: the March Break respite camp, and the Independence Program that promotes and develops valuable lifeskills. They have also provided financial support towards Bloorview’s cost of the new accessible building and its research and development.
Bloorview is extremely grateful to have annual donors like Richard and Marilyn for their generosity and passion to turn disability into possibility.
