Our Donors : Chillin' for Kids Rocks for Bloorview

Chillin’ for Kids made a clean sweep by selling tickets and recruiting corporate sponsors for kids with disabilities.

Last February,  Denise Guerriere formed a planning committee of 12 people to host a rocking curling event called Chillin' for Kids in support of programs and services at Bloorview.   The Chillin’ for Kids committee members included: Linda Blair, David Cairns, Margaret Casoni, Theresa Cook, Michael Dilworth, Patti Dilworth, Denise Guerriere, Stephen Nelson, Peter Ribeiro, Michael Taylor and Lora Valoppi.

"The idea of Chillin' for Kids started through conversations I had with a group of friends who are very positive, energetic, and caring people.  I knew that all of them would be willing to go out for a fun evening while also raising money for Bloorview," said Denise Guerriere, Committee Member, Chillin’ for Kids.

Over 120 guests enjoyed the wonderful event at the Granite Club in Toronto, which was emceed by Pat Foran from CTV News.  By the end of the night, the Chillin' for Kids event raised over $41,000 through individual ticket sales, corporate sponsorship and a silent auction.  Corporate sponsors included Scotia Capital, Impac Solutions, TD Bank, Goodwood, Courtyard Group and Knightsbridge. The committee surpassed their expectations to raise $17,000 for the ventilator fund!   It is safe to say the committee rocked their own goal while helping turn disability into possibility.

The committee had a very rewarding experience hosting and participating in the sporting event for Bloorview because Bloorview is a place that views participation and physical activity for kids with disabilities as paramount in development.

The committee members wasted no time in planning their February 29th, 2008 event.  If you are interested in hosting an event for Bloorview, contact the foundation at 416-424-3809 for more information.
