On Saturday, December 8th 2007, the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s North Toronto Minor Bantam AA Team presented $1500 to Bloorview Kids Foundation to support Bloorview’s competitive sledge hockey program. Bloorview’s sledge hockey team works in partnership with the City of Toronto's Sledge Hockey Team.
“It is great to see kids helping other kids. Our boys absolutely love playing hockey and they want to ensure other kids get to share in their passion for hockey,” said Coach, Mike Barker.
Earlier this year, the North Toronto AA Team hosted the provincial championships. The players held a raffle to cover the costs of hosting the prestigious tournament. The players worked extremely hard selling tickets and ended up with a $1500 surplus and decided to direct the funds to a local children’s charity. Bloorview was selected as their charity of choice because of its competitive sledge hockey program for children with disabilities.
