Saturday, September 24th at KoolHaus
A Benefit in Support of THREE TO BE for Children’s neurological disorders

Toronto, August 2011 – THREE TO BE is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for its Second Annual Stems of Hope Gala – ROBOTICA, Saturday, September 24th at KoolHaus in downtown Toronto. The event is in support of treatment and therapy of children’s neurological disorders and will feature a musical performance by the award-winning Barenaked Ladies and an appearance by Olympic Gold Medallist Alexandre Bilodeau.

Presented by KRG Children’s Charitable Foundation, THREE TO BE Stems of Hope – ROBOTICA will be hosted by Leslie Roberts and Anne Mroczkowski of Global Toronto. This incredible evening promises to amaze, educate and entertain guests through video art installations, interactive exhibits, an exciting live auction co-hosted by Michael Landsberg and Jeanne Beker, a silent auction with many fantastic prizes, and much more.

The Stems of Hope Gala was created by THREE TO BE and is proud to be working together with The Hospital for Sick Children and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. THREE TO BE is the only organization in Canada dedicated to raising awareness and funds for research and therapy of a broad spectrum of children’s neurological disorders, which range from Cerebral Palsy to Autism. The organization was founded by Jared and Dana Florence, parents to three-year-old triplets with Cerebral Palsy.

"Last year’s inaugural gala was a huge success and we are thrilled to be doing it again this year,” said Dana Florence, THREE TO BE co-founder. "Every dollar we can raise towards research for these disorders is another step towards finding treatments that have the potential to make a huge impact and offer hope in a child’s life. The support for this year’s event has been phenomenal. Our presenting sponsor KRG Children’s Charitable Foundation and our media sponsor Global Toronto, have gone above and beyond to support this important cause. And we are thrilled to have Barenaked Ladies performing at this year’s gala. We have always been huge fans and to have them lend their support to THREE TO BE, which is now close to their hearts, truly means the world to us.”

Funds raised at this year’s gala will go towards the purchase of a Paediatric Lokomat Pro for Holland Bloorview, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that has the potential to help children with neurological conditions learn how to walk and gain independence ... the greatest gift for any child with motor impairment. With the purchase of the Lokomat Pro, THREE TO BE is proud to be supporting Holland Bloorview’s innovative clinical research study of robotics therapy for children with Cerebral Palsy. THREE TO BE will also donate a portion of the funds raised to continue to support the Stem Cell program for neurological research at SickKids.

Last year's event raised nearly $500,000 which helped fund the work of stem cell scientists at The Hospital for Sick Children. One of the highlights of last year’s sold out event was the resounding success of the live auction. This year’s live auction line-up to date includes unforgettable experiential packages such as dinner with the Barenaked Ladies; flight & accommodation at the Four Seasons Hotel & Resort in Maui; and once again, Olympic gold medallist Alexandre Bilodeau’s winning skis from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The skis were donated back to THREE TO BE from last year’s winning bidder and will be personally auctioned off by Mr. Bilodeau himself.

About THREE TO BE
THREE TO BE organization was founded in 2009 by Jared and Dana Florence. Jared and Dana are the proud parents of three-year-old triplets –Taylor, Cole and Brody – who were each diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a class of brain injury from birth that has no known cure. Overwhelmed and shocked by the diagnosis, but at once motivated by love, Dana and Jared, made a decision to turn this potentially devastating situation into one of hope and empowerment. This is how THREE TO BE was born.

THREE TO BE is the only organization in Canada dedicated to raising awareness and funds for research and therapy of a broad spectrum of children’s neurological disorders, which range from Cerebral Palsy to Autism. THREE TO BE is proud to be working with the Hospital for Sick Children and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Research will be conducted in these two facilities to provide a multi-disciplinary approach that marries laboratory and clinical rehabilitative research. The Florence’s have the utmost hope that their children and the organization itself will reach heights that were never thought imaginable. For more information, visit www.threetobe.org.
