Valerie McMurtry

Valerie McMurtry is the President and CEO of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation supporting Canada's largest children’s rehabilitation hospital for children and youth with disabilities.

Ms. McMurtry is a senior not-for-profit executive with more than 20 years of experience working with leading Canadian charities, including Queen’s University, Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation and the Alzheimer Society of Canada. She has extensive experience in working with Boards, marketing and brand development, donor and volunteer relationships, and the execution of major fund raising programs. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (Greater Toronto Chapter), and has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 1998. She is a member of the Conference Board of Canada’s National Council of Foundation Executives, and is a regular speaker to AFP, AHP, CAGP, Boards and other community organizations. She is a graduate of the ICD program for Directors of Not-for-Profits and also a graduate of Queen’s University.

Over the past nine years with Holland Bloorview, Ms. McMurtry has led two ambitious fundraising campaigns. The Defy Disability Campaign raised $45 million towards a new building for the Hospital, which opened in 2006 and the new $80 million No Limits Campaign for Childhood Disability. Under her leadership the Holland Bloorview Foundation is committed to helping creating a world without limits for children with disabilities.
