Ms. Dianne Carmichael is currently President, Best Doctors Canada.
Prior to assuming her present position, Ms. Carmichael was Chair and CEO, WorldSource Wealth Management, a subsidiary of the Guardian Capital Group Ltd. where she oversaw four operations nationally, with three reporting presidents, 1500 Advisors and over $5 billion in assets under management.
In her earlier career, Ms. Carmichael was Vice-President at TD Waterhouse, Senior Investment Advisor at Capital Management Group, and prior to joining the Financial Services industry held progressively more senior positions in marketing and sales management with such leading packaged goods companies as Procter & Gamble, RJ Reynolds Nabisco and The Gillette Co., and in the technology industry with Memorex-Telex.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Ms. Carmichael holds the designations of CSC Honours, CPH, CIM, PFP, Officers and Directors. She is a member of the Advisory Boards of the Canadian Association of People-Centred Health, ARC the Academic ehealth Research Collaborative, York University’s Faculty of Health and Mt. Sinai Personalized Medicine Institute. She is Chair of the Women’s Brain Health Initiative and past-Chair of Yellow Brick House, a refuge for abused women and their children. She is a member of the CEO groups The Executive Committee and International Women's Foundation.
Ms. Carmichael was honoured as one of the Top 20 Business Women in Canada 2009 and recently nominated for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year.
In 2004, Ms. Carmichael’s father was diagnosed with cancer, which affected her profoundly. This led to a major shift in her career and personal focus that would enable her to advocate for patients, contribute to the highest quality of care in Canada and influence Health Policy. Her current role provides her with a platform to network at the highest levels of government, medical communities and corporate Canada in order to further initiatives such as electronic health records, quality, and patient advocacy. Ms. Carmichael is an international keynote speaker, writes for the Huffington Post and is interviewed extensively in the media about health care, innovation and leadership.
In 2011, Ms. Carmichael joined the Board of Directors of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.
