Quality Improvement Plan

At Holland Bloorview, we continue on our journey to enhance the quality and safety of care and service we provide to children with disabilities from across the province. This year, our organizational focus and success is reflected in the title of our plan: ‘Leading the way in client and family engagement.’ Consistent with our inclusive approach, this year’s plan was developed with input from our clients, families, community partners, volunteers and staff through an extensive engagement process.  Under the Excellent Care for All Act, 2010 (ECFAA), we are pleased to make our 2012/13 annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) available to the public.

Our 2012 QIP entails a focus on three quality aims: Eliminating all harm, Improving Access to our services and Authentically listening and partnering with our families. Each aim will require a multi-pronged approach on how we educate, audit, provide feedback, share information and mentor our staff in providing the safest care possible and ensuring we eliminate harm. Recognizing that the need is great, we will continue to focus on access by implementing novel change ideas to ensure our clients and families are receiving timely access to our specialized services. We will also continue to significantly evolve our unique approach to quality that has its roots in the authentic and meaningful relationships we have with our clients and families. Their participation on quality and safety initiatives throughout the hospital continues its rapid growth and ensures we are engaged in shared planning and decision making around issues that affect our clients and families.
