Toshiba of Canada Limited, Office Products Group – Philanthropy – 2001

Since 1992, Toshiba of Canada, Office Products Group, has made a significant commitment to Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre through the sponsorship and organization of the Toshiba Celebrity Golf Classic.

This golf tournament has raised more than $1 million to support unique programs, services and research for children and families served by Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre.  This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Golf Classic and its goal is to raise more than $100,000 at the annual event, which will be held on July 9. The benefits of the Toshiba Celebrity Golf Classic go well beyond the funds raised. Given the number of celebrities who participate and represent many diverse areas within the community, the event provides valuable public awareness and profile for Bloorview MacMillan. As well, presentations by Bloorview MacMillan staff inform and educate those attending about the mission, leadership role and achievements of Bloorview MacMillan in enabling children with disabilities to achieve their best!

The celebrity golf tournament is held at National Pines Golf Club in Barrie. The recruitment of celebrities from professional sports and entertainment to join the golf day is a major undertaking each year. As well, children and families from Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre are invited to spend the day and evening as special guests.
