Dr. Peter Rosenbaum – Research - 2001

Peter’s curriculum vitae reflects academic and clinical appointments and scholarly and professional activities of great significance.  Together, they attest to his leadership in the developmental pediatrics field. Currently, he is the Canadian Institutes for Health Research Chair in Developmental Pediatrics at McMaster University. Prior to this appointment, Peter was Chief of Medical Staff at Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre.

Peter is an outstanding teacher and mentor and has guided more than three Ph.D. and 12 Master-degree students.

Peter’s main area of research relates to the healthy and psychosocial well-being of children with disabilities and their families, the natural history of motor function in children with cerebral palsy, and related measurement and evaluative methods. He ensures that knowledge acquired through his research is communicated and moves into practice as quickly as possible. Since the early 1980s, external granting agencies have significantly invested in research by Peter and his team.  His findings have been published in more than 85 peer-reviewed papers, and Peter’s style of partnership with other practitioners and researchers is evident from his many collaborative papers.
