Kim Long - Philanthropy - 2008

Over the past nine years, Kim has been actively involved with Bloorview as a generous donor, passionate fundraiser for the Bloorview Kids Foundation and a caring parent to Robbie, a Bloorview client.

Kim Long

Kim has dedicated her time and effort by always looking for new and creative ways to increase awareness and support for Bloorview.

Last year, Kim decided to take over Bloorview Kids Foundation’s Day at the Races event and host it as a third party fundraiser in support of Bloorview.

The tickets for the event sold out in weeks and raised $50,000, which was more than double her initial goal. This year, Kim has taken up the challenge once again and boldly secured the Reprodux Day at the Races event during the running of the prestigious 149th Queen’s Plate.

Kim has also contributed to a number of other impactful initiatives including producing and printing holiday cards for the Foundation, encouraging other fundraisers to choose Bloorview as their charity of choice and establishing alternative gift-giving at Reprodux by making donations to Bloorview on behalf of clients.

With endless energy and passion, Kim has volunteered her time as a Board Member on the Bloorview School Authority Parents Council.
Kim and her family are proud and active ambassadors for Bloorview, with the Long family representing Bloorview at countless events and truly raising the bar for ambassador participation.

“Kim’s generosity towards Bloorview extends in every direction - philanthropy, time, enthusiasm, sponsorship and advocacy and by example as a wonderful, loving parent to Robbie and her other children,” said Valerie McMurtry, President and CEO of Bloorview Kids Foundation.  “Kim is truly a valued asset to Bloorview.”

Kim believes in giving back and does so with great enthusiasm, often speaking publicly at events about the positive impact Bloorview has had for her son and family, and for thousands of other children with disabilities.

Through her efforts, Kim has deeply enriched the lives of clients and families of Bloorview by raising awareness and funds to help ensure that children with disabilities have the tools and resources they need to achieve their personal best.
