Bonnie Druxerman – Service – 2001

Bonnie is an exceptional occupational therapist who goes above and beyond the call of duty in all respects. In addition to providing outstanding clinical service to children and their families, Bonnie makes an extra effort to problem solve issues to enable greater independence and quality of life for clients. Truly holistic in her thinking and able to create an atmosphere where no question or concern is left unanswered, Bonnie never allows process to get in the way of children’s needs.

In addition to her clinical work at Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre, Bonnie is a founding member of a wheelchair hockey league that operates at Bloorview MacMillan.  She recruited parents to help organize and run this weekly athletic activity. Bonnie is also a volunteer director of Camp Awakening, which is an integrated wilderness camp for young people with disabilities. Recently, she initiated bringing para-athletes Jeff Penner and Jeff Adams to Bloorview MacMillan’s respite camp.

Bonnie loves to teach and impart her knowledge and experience to others, and is well respected by her peers. She is thoughtful, always possessing a spirit of giving and thinking of others before herself. One of our young clients put it best when he was describing Bonnie, “Mom, you know the lady I mean–the lady who always gives you something.”
