Information is shared with us as soon as possible, and questions are answered honestly. We are informed of choices, risks and benefits of decisions, and when we have concerns, we are free to express these and will be listened to.

Partnership
We know the names and roles of the members of our health care team, and they work together to support us while in care, through transitions and through difficult situations. We are important members of the health care team, and our knowledge, expertise and opinions are valued.

The province of Ontario has introduced the Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA), which requires all hospitals in Ontario to make a Patient Declaration of Values publicly available by June 8, 2011. Understanding what matters most to our clients, their families and the hospital community is very important to us when we plan quality improvements for Holland Bloorview. Our Patient Declaration of Values was created using the following engagement process.
