Judy Hunter, PhD
Vice President, Human Resources & Organization Development

As Vice President, Human Resources and Organization Development, Judy Hunter is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic vision for an innovative people and culture strategy that will meet the needs of the employees and volunteers in an evolving academic health sciences centre. With the senior team, Judy is accountable for ensuring that the organization is supported through great people practices in achieving Holland Bloorview’s strategic priorities.

Judy’s background in human resources is extensive and varied having held executive and senior positions in a variety of industry sectors including insurance, banking, metals and mining, airlines, pharmaceuticals and health care. Her background includes experience at companies such as Kinross Gold, Aviva Canada Insurance, Scotiabank, Glaxo SmithKline and Baxter Healthcare.

In addition, Dr. Hunter has board governance experience in the not-for-profit sector with a focus on social justice issues in the area of poverty and its impact on women and children. She currently sits on the board of The Yonge Street Mission and is a former board member of The Redwood.

Judyand has been certified in Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials in a program offered through the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).

Judy has a PhD (doctor of management) from Southern Cross University (Australia) and the International Management Centre (UK). Her thesis explored the impact of organizational structures on the achievement of strategies in research-based companies.
