Christa Haanstra
Chief of Communications & Public Affairs

Christa has worked primarily in the health-care field both in the public hospital and the not-for-profit association sectors since 1997.

Christa is the Chief of Communications and Public Affairs at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Her responsibilities include internal and external communications, branding, media relations and issues management.

She brings to this position six years of experience as the former Director of Public Affairs at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and additional experience gained through her work at the University of Windsor and the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Christa played a lead role in the development of CAMH’s Transforming Lives public awareness campaign, which won a Strategic Communications Program Hygeia Award from the Health Care Public Relations Association. She also received an OTTER Communications Training award for communications training she developed and offered to the problem gambling sector. Christa was also recently honoured by Seneca College as their top co-op alumni in the Corporate Communications program.

Christa has a post-graduate diploma in Corporate Communications from Seneca College, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa. Christa also completed the Health Care Leadership Development Program at the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto.
