Dr. Benjamin Alman is Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children. He holds a Canada Research Chair for his musculoskeletal research and is the A.J. Latner Professor and Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is also the Head of Orthopaedics and a Senior Scientist in the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology Program at the Hospital for Sick Children. He is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, treating children with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including tumors, neuromuscular conditions, spinal deformity, hip abnormalities, and trauma. In addition, he is an orthopaedic consult for the Neuromuscular Clinic at Bloorview Kids Rehab.
Dr. Alman serves on several national and international grant review panels; the Research Advisory Board and chairs the Clinical Research Subcommittee of the Shriner’s Hospitals.
Dr. Alman was the former Chair of the Bloorview Children’s Hospital Foundation prior to the amalgamation with Bloorview Kids Foundation in 2009. Dr. Alman played an important role in the merging of the two Foundations, which positions Bloorview Kids Foundation as one of the fifteen largest hospital-based foundation endowments in Canada.
